March 14, 2012:OEHA President Luke Jacobs provided proponent testimony for House Bill 416, which proposes changes to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3749 (swimming pools and spas). February 22, 2012: Substitute House Bill 32, which exempts sewage treatment designs from the definition of surveying was signed into law by Governor Kasich on February 21 and will be effective starting May 21, 2012.
February 22, 2012: Public Health Combined Conference Calls for Student and Faculty Abstracts- This is an opportunity to showcase evaluations, research, projects, and experiences through a poster or oral presentation at the public health combined conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Worthington. February 6, 2012: OEHA is pleased to provide its members with the finalized report on The Environmental Health Profession: A Continuing Dialogue. This report compiles the thoughts that were put together by attendees at the 2011 AEC.
January 18, 2012: Representative Terry Blair (R) from Dayton, OH has sponsored a bill (HB 416) that affects ORC 3749 (Swimming Pool Law). Highlights of the changes proposed include: abilities for local boards of health to close a pool for an immediate danger to health; abilities for boards of health to require training for pool operators who are REPEAT offenders of critical violations of OAC 3701-31; and changes the licensing season to May 1 – April 31.
January 13, 2012: The OEHA Board of Directors recently approved a proposed amendment to the association Bylaws that would increase association membership dues. Voting on the proposed amendment will take place at the 2012 AEC. Access the proposed amendment and voting information here.

November 7, 2011: Recently, OEHA was invited to attend a meeting in regards to the food safety program in this State. This meeting brought stakeholders from numerous angles including AOHC, Ohio Grocer’s Association, Ohio Restaurant Association, Governor Kasich’s Office and both State agencies that oversee the programs (ODH, ODA). While it was framed as a meeting to discuss the duplication of the surveys performed by both State agencies, the implications of this meeting ultimately was whether or not the program would be best served by being housed at one agency.
